BUTTON RIFLED "ARCHER" BARRELS PROSPECTUS
2008

(updated 9 January 2008)

Archer barrels are button rifled barrels made by Border Barrels Ltd. We market our button rifled barrels as Archer barrels so that there is no confusion about whether a given Border barrel is cut rifled or button rifled. All "Border" barrels with the Border barrel logo are cut rifled. All "Archer" barrels with the Archer barrel logo are button rifled. Both "Border" and "Archer" barrels are made by Border Barrels Ltd.

All Archer barrels are:

    • Stress relieved after rifling to get all the stresses out and so the dimensions don't change when contouring the barrel.
    • Lead lapped by hand for "hummer" accuracy right from the first shot.

Below is a list of what we can currently offer by way of calibres and twists. Every new twist rate for any given calibre requires a new button. Our inventory is growing, so if you do not see what you want, call us anyway and we may have it or about to get it.

Barrel Contours. Only standard barrel contours are offered for Archer barrels - with the exception of T6 as the maximum length for an Archer barrel is 30" (762mm). Barrels are linished after contouring to give them a "fine ground" finish.

Barrel Steel. All Archer barrels are made using 416 stainless steel. The hardness range specified for the steel is 24 - 28 Rockwell 'C'

All export prices quoted are exclusive of VAT tax, which is applicable in the UK and Europe. The governing price is in pounds sterling. Euro prices are for guidance only and are quoted at an exchange rate of 1.00 Pounds = 1.34 euros. The exchange rate at the time of purchase will apply. Note that the general export prices may differ from those quoted by the agent in your country

Export Requirements. We are required to obtain an export licence for all barrels exported outside the United Kingdom. To obtain our export licence we require a copy of your valid import licence. We also need you to fill in an End User Undertaking form, which can be downloaded from our website. This form must be accompanied by a letter on your official business letter paper. The way this letter should be written is shown in this example.

The End User Undertaking form is not easy to understand, even if English is your first language, so we will be happy to email you a form already filled in for your order. All you will have to do is print it, sign it where indicated and send it to us with your covering letter.

It can take up to 28 days for us to obtain our export licence. Before we apply for our export licence, we must have a copy of your Import Licence, your original End User Undertaking form, and accompanying letter. Quite often we find that the delivery time of our barrels is dependent on how long it takes to get the necessary paperwork in place. It is therefore necessary that you act quickly to send us the necessary documents.

Payment methods We now have a credit card facility. Credit card payments will attract a 2.5% surcharge. Sorry about this, but that is what we are being charged to have this facility. We can accept the following cards for payment.

Credit cards we can take.

Being a licensable export commodity, it is not possible to sell barrels "online", so we do not have an online shopping cart facility for barrels on this website. Apart from a cheque in US dollars or pounds stirling, the other way to pay is by direct transfer from your bank account to ours. Our bank account details will be on your invoice. The cost of the transfer will be carried by you.
