CUT RIFLED "BORDER" BARRELS PROSPECTUS
2008

(updated 9 January 2008)

Rifling method Barrels made to order in our Custom Barrel Shop will be cut rifled on our Pratt & Whitney rifling machines.

Calibres We are continually working to increase our range of calibres. Presently, our range is as follows:

.22 rimfire, .224 centrefire, .243 (6mm), .264 (6.5mm), .270, .284 (7mm), .30 cals., .32, 8mm, .338, .355 (9mm), .357, .38, 9.3mm, .375, .416, .450, .470, .500, .505, .600

Twist Cut rifled barrels, from 1 in 6.5" ( 165mm) to infinity.

Number of grooves We have index plates for our cut rifling machines for four, five or six grooves. Generally our barrels have six grooves, except on the .30 cals where four grooves is usual.

"5R" Barrels Customers now have the choice of having barrels using the famous "5R" rifling form, as popularised by "Boots" Obermeyer. These barrels are made under licence to Obermeyer Rifle Barrels and with Boots' explicit help in setting up the tooling for this type of rifling. There will be a £6 surcharge for barrels with the '5R' rifling form.

Barrel contours and dimensions We have a fairly comprehensive list of standard barrel contours . If you require a non standard profile, or you require a modification to any of our standard profiles, there will be an initial set-up charge of £50 for the first barrel. This charge reflects the time required to program the CNC profiling lathe for your specific requirement. However, all subsequent barrels will be charged at the standard rate.

For finished barrel lengths greater than 30" (762mm) there will be a surcharge of £16 per inch (25mm). The maximum length of barrel we can make is 42" (1067mm), but this is dependent on the tooling available for any particular calibre. This surcharge is applicable to all barrels made over 30" finished length and reflects the extra time required to make longer barrels.

Steels Chrome Moly steels EN I9 or EN 24, "Stainless" steel type 416 S21. Our blank diameter is 1.3 inches (33mm) on our usual stock of steels, but we can obtain steels for larger diameter barrels if requested.

Drop-in barrels We now manufacture a range of ready proofed drop-in barrels in .22 LR for the Anschutz target rifles, (1400, 1800, 1900 and 2000 series), Walther target rifles (GX1 and KK200) and the Ruger 10/22. This range of drop-in barrels will increase with time, so please watch our Website for updated news!

Test barrels We are the principal manufacturer of pressure barrels for Royal Ordnance and have made pressure barrels for ammunition manufacturers the world over. We have drawings of most of the NATO specification of pressure and accuracy barrels, as well as CIP specifications. Please contact us with your pressure barrel requirements, you will find our prices very competitive!

Export requirements We are required to obtain an export licence for all barrels exported outside the United Kingdom.

To obtain our export licence we require a copy of your valid import licence. We also need you to fill in an End User Undertaking form, which can be downloaded from our website. This form must be accompanied by a letter on your official business letter paper. The way this letter should be written is shown in this example. It can take up to 28 days for us to obtain our export licence. Before we apply for our export licence, we must have a copy of your Import Licence, your original End User Undertaking form, and an accompanying letter. Quite often we find that the delivery time of our barrels is dependent on how long it takes to get the necessary paperwork in place. It is therefore necessary that you act quickly to send us the necessary documents.

Payment methods We now have a credit card facility. Credit card payments will attract a 2.5% surcharge. Sorry about this, but that is what we are being charged to have this facility. We can accept the following cards for payment.

Credit cards we can take.

Being a licensable export commodity, it is not possible to sell barrels "online", so we do not have an online shopping cart facility for barrels on this website. Apart from a cheque in US dollars or pounds stirling, the other way to pay is by direct transfer from your bank account to ours. Our bank account details will be on your invoice. The cost of the transfer will be carried by you.
