DIRECTIONS and MAP
From the WEST. From the M6 (or the M74 if you are coming from Scotland) turn off at junction 44 (Carlisle) and head East on the A7. Just after crossing the border into Scotland, turn right onto the B6357, which goes through Canonbie, Rowanburn and Newcastleton. Keep going North East through the village of Newcastleton until you reach a bridge one mile outside the village. Cross the bridge and turn right, continuing on the B6357 towards Jedburgh. Another six miles up that road, you will come to Riccarton Farm on the left hand side of the road. If you reach the turn off for Kielder to the right and Saughtree farm with Saughtree church on the left, you have gone too far. Turn around and come back one mile.
From the EAST. Coming from the South - From the A1, go North to Newcastle, where you can take the A696 to Jedburgh, which will turn into the A68 by-and-by. Once you are over the border into Scotland, make an immediate left turn onto the A6088 and make for Bonchester Bridge. Just before Bonchester Bridge, there is a turn off to your left onto the B6357. Turn onto that and keep going for about 15 miles. When you pass the turn off to Keilder on your left, you will know that you have one more mile to go. Riccarton Farm will be found on the right hand side of the road.
Coming from the North, the best route is to take the A68 South to Jedburgh. Pass through Jedburgh and about a mile South of the town, there is a turn off to the right for Bonchester Bridge and Newcastleton. Take that and follow a rather windy road until you get to Bonchester Bridge. Turn left onto the A6088, pass through Bonchester Bridge, over the bridge and up the hill, and take a right turn onto the B6357. Keep going on that road for about 15 miles. When you pass the turn off to Kielder on your left, you will know that you have one more mile to go. Riccarton Farm will be found on the right hand side of the road. If you come down the A7 from Edinburgh, turn off at Hawick onto the B6399 to Newcastleton. About 20 miles down this road you will come to a bridge with a left turn onto the B6357 going Jedburgh. Take this turn and do not go over the bridge into Newcastleton. Riccarton Farm is about 6 miles up this road on the left hand side.
